So between your Mac's built-in tools and handy utilities like Disk Drill and CleanMyMac, there's almost always a way to get a mistakenly deleted file back. You might not realize, but files you delete from your computer aren't actually *gone* until those bytes on the hard drive are written over with new data. You need the disk’s file structure to remain exactly as it was when you emptied the Trash. The first thing to do is… nothing! That’s right, don’t do anything else on your Mac. It is possible, even if you haven’t taken precautions - such as using TimeMachine - to recover files, photos, audio, music, emails you’ve dragged to the Trash and emptied. What should you do first if this happens? If only you’d made a back up earlier in the day. If only you’d started running Time Machine yesterday rather than tomorrow. With a crunch, your whole day’s work is gone. Then, at the end of the day, in an attempt to tidy up, you drag it to the Trash and without thinking about it, click Empty Trash. You spend all day working on a text document or a spreadsheet and you save it to the Desktop to make it easier to find later. If you accidentally delete a file you didn't mean to trash, don't panic. If you do need to remove MoneyWiz for Windows from your PC for some reason, you can uninstall it like any other application: going to Settings > Applications > Remove applications (the exact wording will depend on the version of Windows you use). You can learn how to access your database folder here. It’s sufficient to remove the database file, leaving the application intact. However, it is not necessary in majority of cases. If you do need to remove MoneyWiz for Mac for some reason, please go to Finder > Applications > find MoneyWiz.app and drag it to Trash. In that case just move this file somewhere else. Once you find it, please find this folder and place it to Trash – unless you wish to make a backup of your data. If you're using MoneyWiz 1/2 or 3, please see this article for information on how to access the Mac database folder. If you're using MoneyWiz 2022 or newer, please see this article for information on how to access the Mac database folder. But it's sufficient to remove the database file, leaving the application file intact. Removing the application file from Applications folder will not remove the database file. If after reinstall you are still signed in, please check again as the local data was not removed. Now after app reinstall you should see a totally empty database - that is important. Then please go to General Settings on your Android device -> Tap Backup & Reset -> Remove the checkmark next to Auto Restore of the apps after their reinstall. You’ll need to use some File Manager application and browse to the SD card memory (or your internal device memory) and then find MoneyWiz_2 folder (it's called this way regardless of version used) – remove it entirely. That’s it! When you start MoneyWiz again it’ll have no data so you can sign in to your SYNCbits account again – unless you wanted to erase SYNCbits data and start over – in which case you obviously don’t need to sign back in. For this reason, it's sufficient to just remove the application and the iOS system will do the rest - if you install MoneyWiz again, it'll be completely cleared. Completely reinstalling or removing MoneyWiz on a device allows you to remove the local database file which is useful if you need to pull the "fresh" set of data from MoneyWiz Cloud/SYNCbits (which is why we sometimes call it "clean sync") or just completely remove MoneyWiz from a device.
